The SLD (Super Radiant Light Emitting Diode/LED) light source provides output power equivalent to a laser diode and a wide oscillation spectral width equivalent to an LED (Light Emitting Diode), as well as low coherence. Due to its emission of light with a narrow active layer equivalent to a laser diode, it is very suitable for entering optical fibers and has characteristics between LD and LED. AS5B125EM50M is a 1.55um SLD (Super Light Emitting Diode) module developed as a incoherent light source for various optical measurements. This device emits incoherent light with a wide spectral half width and high output power from a polarization maintaining fiber (PMF).

1550nm SLD high-power polarization maintaining laser diode 25mW

This laser is a broadband SLD that operates in an inherent superluminescent mode This superluminescent characteristic can generate a wider spectral bandwidth under higher current driving, while other traditional ASE based SLEDs will produce a narrower spectral bandwidth under higher current driving. Its low coherence reduces Rayleigh backscattering noise. In addition, with high power and wide spectral width, it cancels out the noise of the light receiver, improves spatial resolution (OCT) and measurement sensitivity (sensor). This 1550nm LED comes in a 14 pin butterfly package. It meets the requirements of Bellcore file GR-468-CORE.
