The OZ Optics polarization controller allows people to convert any input polarization state into any desired output polarization state. This device combines a compact size and easy-to-use standard volume optical system with low cost, low loss, and low back reflection. The polarization controller works by applying pressure through an adjustable clamp. The pressure on the fiber causes birefringence within the core, resulting in the fiber acting as a fractional waveplate. Changing the pressure will alter the delay between the fast polarization component and the slow polarization component. Due to the rotatable nature of the fixture, the direction of applied stress can be changed. This allows for any output polarization to be achieved. This process is simple and fast. Output polarization exceeding 30dB can usually be achieved within a few seconds
